Week One Update

FattyFatOff 2012 is in full swing with one week down and an extraordinary showing of weight loss by the usual cast of characters and a few newcomers taking the competition by storm. Its still very early in the race and it can be anyone's game in the end, but the enthusiastic showing in week one is very promising. They've dropped a total of nearly 70 pounds between them in just 7 days!

So are the newbies in it for the long-haul or are they going to sprint through the first few weeks and run out of steam? They talk a big game but they will need to stay motivated throughout the coming weeks. With the addition of the Fatty Fantasy League minutes before the weigh-in, most of the 2012 competitors should be cheered on along the way and push themselves to keep their eyes on the prize.

Site of the Week: Major League Eating

Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas with her Big Daddy Burger record (9 pound cheeseburger consumed in 27 minutes)

Most people don't consider eating to be a sport, but this week we take a look at the International Federation of Competitive Eating's new branding as "Major League Eating." See more than you can stomach at: http://www.ifoce.com/ The records are as astonishing as they are disgusting, with some very strange foods being consumed en masse.

Here are a few current records with links to the eater's own websites. Its a bit disgusting, so use this to help you get through the last rough week of calorie cutting! Enjoy..

Aaaaand we're back!

Its been a few weeks since we last updated the website and the blog, but I assure you, Fatty FatOff is in full swing! At least for some people..

Many of the contestants, particularly on the women's team, have all but completely thrown in the towel. But some still have the will to continue, eating nothing more than a few slices of deli meat per day or existing solely on caffeine and ambition. This is crunch time and we shall see who can keep up this pace until the end.

Website of the Week

The Week 1 Weigh-In is in the books and it looks like the ladies are starting off in the lead! Only time will tell if these competitors are ready for the marathon ahead of them. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, we want to share our new favorite website of the week! Its called "This Is Why You're Fat" and it features the most ridiculously fattening combinations of foods known to man. And you guessed it, most of them are made right here in the good old US of A. We Americans love our high-fat, heart-stopping foods! Our favorite is the "Deep-fried Reeses Cups Wrapped in Bacon" -- while it might actually cause an instant heart attack, it does sound pretty delicious. Just take a look!

First Weekend

Going into the first weekend before a Monday weigh-in, only time will tell which competitors are able to resist home-cooked food, dinners out, and the gateway to all greasy food, alcohol. We wish you all a healthy and happy weekend!

New Year, New Rules

It may have taken days of debate and some fancy calculations, but the new rules are up and everyone seems to be excited about the changes. With the competition ready to kick off tomorrow, the competitors are all deep in thought, planning their strategy of attack and their menus for the next 2 months. The new rules pit men vs. women and offer a few levels of prizes. On the first level, its a straight battle of the sexes for the first half of the pot. Most of the remaining loot gets split up between winners on each team. But of course there is a twist! The overall winner will get an additional 10% only if they are on the winning team. If not, its a family feud style style forfeit where the money goes directly to the other team.

This year its all about keeping yourself and your team motivated to maximize your own chances at the prizes! Its anyone's game at this point and we are all feeling optimistic.

So have that last burger and slice of cake, and get ready for the long haul! Here we go!
